Mojsovski out for EHF EURO 2014
FYR Macedonia received a major blow before EHF EURO 2014, as star playmaker Naumce Mojsovski suffered an injury and will be out for at least six months. He will miss the EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark as well as the rest of the season for his club Metalurg in the VELUX EHF Champions League.
In the recent derby game against city rivals Vardar in the SEHA Regional league, Mojsovski tore a ligament and outside collateral meniscus in his knee, leaving him sidelined for at least six months.
The important 22:21 victory for Metalurg was shadowed by Mojsovski’s knee injury on 51 minutes.
The centre back sustained the injury after a Vardar player fell on him and had to be carried off by teammates and was taken to hospital for examination.
Terrible timing
"Mojsovski is the type of player who we will hardly be able to find an adequate replacement for this moment. We'll see if there is a near perfect solution,” said Risto Cokrev, president of Metalurg.
The national team back court player will undergo surgery in Vienna in the next few days.
"This injury comes at the worst time for Mojovski, with all eyes focused on the EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark, and preparations set to begin on Saturday,” said Nikola Pancevski, director of the Macedonian national team.
The Macedonians are in Group B and will play in Herning against Denmark, Austria and Czech Republic.
