Top class semi-final pairings setCroatia and Spain joined Denmark and France on the list of the EHF EURO 2014 semi-finalist completing the heavy-weights line-up for the medal race. The reigning world champions from Spain clinched their berth by an impressive 33:22 win over FYR Macedonia in Herning and they will face the London 2012 Olympic winners from France on Friday. The last ticket to the semi-finals have been secured by Croatia as they beat Poland 31:28 in a decisive and very tense encounter of Group II in Aarhus. Croatians made it to the top four of the continent for the sixth time in a row and will meet the defending champions and the tournament's hosts Denmark in the second semi-final. France suffered their first defeat of the tournamet against Sweden (28:30), but this result had no effect on their top position in the group. Denmark remained the last team with a perfect record of six victories from six matches as they defeated Iceland 32:23. In other matches Austria beat Hungary 25:24 and Russia overcame Belarus 39:33 in the highest scoring game of the tournament so far. Apart from the semi-finalists only Poland and Iceland do not pack for the home journey as they will play for the 5th place on Friday.
