Bulatovic back to BuducnostAfter two seasons playing in Romania and Hungary, for Oltchim Rm. Valcea and Györi Audi ETO, Katarina Bulatovic will return to Buducnost. One of the world best players signed a contract with the Montenegrin champions and will join some of her former teammates in the summer. “I am coming home and I am happy that I will play again with the girls whom I had my greatest successes in the club and the national team. “After two years abroad, I am glad that I will play again in Podgorica in front of the great Buducnost fans. I believe I will bring the Champions League trophy back to Buducnost,” Katarina Bulatovic said. Bulatovic first joined Buducnost in January 2008 from Slagelse (she previously played for Serbian clubs Knjaz Milos and Lasta), after she won EHF Champions League title with the Danish team in 2007. In February of the same year, in the two Cup Winners’ Cup Last 16 matches with the Spanish side Akaba Bera Bera, she scored 14 goals in a remarkable debut. Until summer 2012, when she left the club to join Oltchim Rm. Valcea, Bulatovic played a total of 53 games in Europe for Buducnost, scoring 353 goals. Her biggest success with the club was winning the Women’s EHF Champons League title in 2012. Besides the usual domestic trophies, Katarina also won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 2010 and three consecutive regional league trophies. A few months after arriving in Buducnost, the Serbian born player decided to play for Montenegro, and made her debut in June 2011 in the World Championship qualification play-off games against Czech Republic. “There are also personal reasons that contributed to the fact that I wanted to go back to Podgorica and it was one of the most important factors to have determined my decision,” Bulatovic added.
Desire to return Bulatovic could win her third EHF Champions League trophy this May when she competes in the first Women's EHF FINAL4 with Györ and there is a possibility that Bulatovic will meet Buducnost in Budapest final. “I am satisfied with the season in Gyor. I fulfilled my desire to play with top players such as Anita Görbicz, Heidi Loke, Kartine Lunde and Eduarda Amorim. “This Season in Gyor has been a great experience for me and I'm sorry to be leaving the club where I was accepted great and I had great financial conditions. “However, the desire to return to Buducnost was the most important, as I want to achieve all club’s goals next season. Buducnost always has greatest ambitions, so the agreement was mutually satisfying,” said the 29-year-old right back. Currently, Bulatovic is fifth on this season’s EHF Champions League scoring list, with 65 goals. "The return of Katarina is a great thing. It’s a desire of every club to have such a player, especially us, because she gave a lot of herself in winning the Champions League in 2012. “With her arrival, our and Katarina’s ambitions for next season are bigger than this year, we all want to be back on top of Europe. It’s a big plus for the club, but also for the girls who will play with her next season,” said Buducnost coach Dragan Adzic. TEXT: Saša Jončić / cor |
