Ruling women's champions in Denmark FC Midtjylland have signed Swedish international Sabina Jacobsen on a three year contract from league rivals Randers HK.

The 25-year-old versatile back court player is retraining from a cruciate ligament injury at the moment, but she is expected to be completely fit in good time for the start of next season.

“I'll be joining a really good team, where I hope to contribute with the qualities I possess. I am a winner and a fighter, and I definitely do not like to lose,” said Sabina Jacobsen who has played 52 internationals and scored 91 goals for Sweden.

“I was flattered, as FC Midtjylland approached me, and I felt that it was the right thing for me. FC Midtjylland is a top club, and I am really looking forward to playing here,” she added.

“Sabina is a world class player who can be used in all phases of the game. She is strong defensively, where she can cover several positions and defence systems, and in the attack she can play all three back court positions. She is a fighter and a player with a good attitude,” head coach Helle Thomsen said.

FC Midtjylland, who have qualified for the MVM EHF FINAL4 this season, are currently chasing back court players, as they will be losing centre back Lærke Møller to Danish league rivals Team Tvis Holstebro and left back Trine Troelsen to French Toulon Saint-Cyr Var after this season.

The signing of Jacobsen is the first step to close these gaps.
