The EHF is sad to report the passing away of former referee and delegate, Fotis Bavas, from Greece.

Bavas passed away on Friday, 18 April 2014 at the age of 58.

He served handball for more than 20 years. In 1989, together with his partner Sotiris Migas, they became IHF/EHF referees. His career best moments where at the EHF EURO 2000, where they whistled the final match Russia vs Sweden or at the Athens Olympics in 2000, where they were nominated also for the bronze medal match Russia vs Hungary. He also refereed the 2003 Women’s EHF Champions League Final Krim vs Valencia or 2002 European Super Cup FC Barcelona vs Portland San Antonio.

The EHF would like to pass on its condolences and thoughts to family and friends at this difficult time.
