High five the Young FiversThe VELUX Group, title sponsor of Europe’s premier club competition since 2010 has set out to support the next generation of handball talent by giving youth teams the chance to win a training session they will never forget with Danish handball legend, Lars Christiansen. Every youth team in Europe had the chance to enter the competition via the VELUX Group’s handball website, www.handballenergy.com. The winners of the competition are the Vienna-based team ‘Young Fivers’, from the club Raiffessen Fivers. They were nominated because of their work in the development of youth handball in the city, and their impressive list of titles from the past season, which saw them win eight Austrian championship titles and nine Vienna championship titles. The club won the competition not just because of their sporting success, but also because they seek to integrate young players and teach them to have fun, enjoy playing as well as to focus on their own personal development. One of the leading clubs in Austria, Raiffeisen Fivers, took part in qualification to the VELUX EHF Champions League in the 2011/12 season. The Young Fivers are not the first team to have been supported by the initiative from the VELUX Group. Lars Christiansen also surprised the under 12’s team from TIK Haandball, based in Taastrupp, Denmark and provided them with a once in a life time chance to be trained by the Danish star.
The Danish Legend will be visiting the Young Fivers on Tuesday, 6 May 2014 from 19:00 hrs in the team's home arena, Hollgasse 3, in Vienna's fifth district. At the event there will a chance for spectators to win two tickets for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 including flights and hotel, courtesy of VELUX Austria. More information about the Raiffeisen Fivers and the Young Fivers can be found on the club's official website and Facebook page. TEXT: EHF / jjr |
