Scheffknecht: "We will qualify for sure"The schedule of Group 1 of the Women’s EHF EURO 2014 Qualification had to be changed several times due the political situation in Ukraine. This fact influences Austria’s situation who are close to qualifying for the final tournament, being ranked second with three wins from four matches and four points ahead of Ukraine on third. Ukraine play their rescheduled fourth round encounter against Denmark on Wednesday, 4 June, while Austria meet Denmark in their fifth round encounter already on 7 June in Vienna. If Denmark beat Ukraine on Wednesday, a draw against the World Championship 2013 bronze medallists on Saturday is already enough to book the ticket for the Women’s EHF EURO 2014. In this exclusive interview left back Beate Scheffknecht reasons why the time is ripe for Austria to qualify. Scheffknecht has scored 38 goals in the qualification campaign so far and has recently been awarded “Best player of the season” for her club, German side “Frisch Auf Göppingen”.
