Visit Varazdin - even the New York Times says so

An 'architectural and musical gem', one of Croatia's 'most picturesque and well-preserved areas': The New York Times certainly does not fall short of colourful adjectives when it comes to describing Varazdin.

The city in Croatia's north, that will host Preliminary Round Group C at the Women's EHF EURO 2014 this December, has been selected as one of the 52 places to visit in 2014 (check out no. 48) by the prestigious US newspaper.

"One hour north of Zagreb, this small metropolis of 50,000 has an immaculate cobblestoned town center and is stocked with Baroque churches and palaces like the Draskovic," writes author Shivani Vora.

And if that is not enough of a reason to visit, we can assure you that there is some great sport coming to town in December.

Group C, played from 8 to 12 December, with Sweden, Germany, Croatia and Netherlands can definitely be regarded as one of the most even ones in the tournament's first stage.

Sweden got there by making their way past Serbia, Slovenia and Switzerland in a very strong Qualification Group 5. Germany are ready to show what they are capable of after stunning Russia and FYR Macedonia in the qualification.

Hosts Croatia will be backed by their fans and are expected to produce an impressive performance on home court, while Dutch women's handball has been on the rise with the team reaching the World Championship 2013 as well as beating Spain once in the qualification for the Women's EHF EURO 2014.

If you are now thinking about the visiting Varazdin, tickets to the Women's EHF EURO 2014 are just one click away. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
