One match ban for Rutenka

The Belarusian left back of FC Barcelona will miss the VELUX EHF Champions League Round 2 match against Orlen Wisla Plock.

One match ban for Rutenka

The EHF Court of Handball has reached a decision following disciplinary proceedings against the player Siarhei Rutenka of FC Barcelona.

The player was directly disqualified for having hit an opponent in the face with the elbow at the 57”01 minute of the 2014/15 VELUX EHF Champions League match (Round 1): Alingsas HK (SWE) vs. FC Barcelona (ESP).

The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that the behaviour of Siarhei Rutenka deserves further sanction since such a movement is not a normal gesture within the course of a regular struggle to take the pivot position. The movement was directed to the opponent’s face and was thus likely to endanger his health.

The player is thus suspended for one match and consequently will not be entitled to participate in the next match of FC Barcelona against Orlen Wisla Plock taking place Sunday 5 October.

An appeal against the present decision shall not have any suspensive effect.
