GROUP B Barcelona made everything ready for a real top match away against KIF Kolding København next Sunday, as they defeated Besiktas with then goals in the Palau Blaugrana. Both Kolding and Barcelona have six points after three matches when the meet in Brøndbyhallen in a week. Barcelona had right wing Victor Tomas back from injury and left back Siarhei Rutenka back from suspension, but despite being at full strength, the Spanish favourites got a rather shaky start and got down 2:4. However, after a time-out after only five minutes and 43 seconds, Barcelona seemed to be ready for the challenge, and six goals in succession changes the score into an 8:4 lead for the hosts.
One Barcelona player who was definitely ready from the start was Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson. Seven goals on seven attempts did the Icelandic left winger score within the first 18 minutes, thereby contributing considerably to Barcelona's 12:6 lead at that point. After this impressive start, Sigurdsson spent the next half hour on the bench and only scored once more when he came back on the court. Those eight goals were enough to make the 35-year-old Icelandic international most scoring player of the match, an dhis teammates made it fine without him during his rest of the bench. After a seven goal lead at half time, Barcelona concentrated more or less on maintaining the lead at the same size during most of the second half, and only towards the end did they increase further to ten goals at the end.
