Identical results in two matches seen in Serbia

ROUND REVIEW: Both matches between ZRK Naisa Nis and Thames Handball in the Women’s Challenge Cup ended with same result

Identical results in two matches seen in Serbia

It seldom happens that two matches in a row between the same two teams end with exactly the result.

Nevertheless, this was exactly what happened, as Thames Handball visited ZRK Naisa Nis for a double header in the Women’s Challenge Cup.

Saturday, the Serbian hosts won 37:20 against their British guests, and Sunday, the second leg in the Sport Hall “Cair” in Nis ended with exactly the same digits.

Even the half-time results were close to being identical – 20:7 on Saturday and 20:8 on Sunday.

On to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik and home side Fram’s task was even easier than Naisa’s.

GAS Megas Alexandros Giannitson from Greece were no match for Fram who won the first leg on Friday 43:16, only to win by almost the same amound Saturday, when the victory was 36:16.

Another Greek team, A. C. Loux Patras, offered considerably more resistance against Colegio de Gaia.

Still, it was not enough to really threaten the Portuguese hosts who won both matches by six goals – 24:18 on Friday and 21:15 the following day.

The closest encounter among the six doubleheaders this weekend took place in Belgrade, where the ABU Baku for Azerbaijan won the Saturday match 31:29 against their Serbian hosts ZRK Crvena Zvezda.

This two goal win turned out to be all the team from Baku needed, as the second leg Sunday ended in a 23:23 draw.

Take a look at all of the weekend's results from the Challenge Cup here.
