24.11.2014, 08:10 ROUND REVIEW: Extremely large wins dominate the weekend's Men's Challenge Cup action |
||
Red Boys and Vise both make 81 goals within one weekendThe nets in the goals at the venues of the Men's Challenge Cup had to be solid this weekend, as some of them were really tested to their limits. For instance, this applied to two of the double headers, one of which was played in Luxembourg and one in Belgium, where the winning teams both scored no less 81 goals over the weekend. In Differdange in Luxembourg, the local heroes Red Boys won 33:17 against Ankara II Özel Idare SK Saturday – only to go goal berserk the following day and win as big as 48:28.
In Vise, Belgium, HC Vise BM also had an enjoyable weekend against Ruislip Eagles.
In the first match on Saturday, the Belgian hosts defeated their British visitors 42:22, only to let this huge win be followed by a 39:15 demolition of the British Eagles the very next day. S.L.Benfica managed to benefit from their home advantage to proceed to the Last 16, but they had their troble against FyllingenBergen. The Norwegian visitors were leading 19:14 at half time in the first match on Saturday, but the Portugues hosts managed to turn the game in the last 30 minutes and win narrowly 33:32. In the Sunday match in the Portuguese capital, Fyllingen were the better team in the first half once again, leading 15:13 at half time. Once again, however, Benfica managed to change things after the break and win 28:25, which gave them a 61:57 on aggregate.
