World Championship 2015 Play-offs drawn on 21 December
The Women's EHF EURO 2014 comes to a close on Sunday, but the next major event in international women's handball is already looming on the horizon.
Just after the EHF EURO's closing press conference at 13:00 hrs on 21 December, the World Championship 2015 Play-off matches will be drawn.
These double-headers taking place in June 2015 are the last hurdle 18 European teams will want to take en route to the final tournament in Denmark in December next year.
Denmark as hosts are already qualified. They will be joined by the European Champions who also get a direct ticket to the championship.
The remaining nine places that are available to European teams will be decided in the play-offs.
For the draw the teams ranked second to eleventh (excluding Denmark) are seeded in Pot 1.
These teams are Norway or Spain, Sweden, Montenegro, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Romania, Germany and Poland.
They will be drawn against one team from Pot 2 which consists of the five teams that finished 12th to 16th at the EHF EURO - Slovakia, Croatia, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine - and the four teams that qualified through the first qualification phase: Austria, Czech Republic, Iceland and Slovenia.
For each pairing the home and away right will be drawn.
The play-offs' first legs take place on 6/7 June 2015, the second leg matches one week later.
The Women's World Championship 2015 in Denmark takes place from 5 to 20 December.
