Klavs Bruun Jörgensen takes over Danish women’s national teamFormer Danish international Klavs Bruun Jörgensen will take over the job as head coach of Denmark’s women’s national team beginning from 1 June 2015 – until then Heine Eriksen will have the lead in interim fashion. Jörgensen is replacing Jan Pytlick, whose contract was cancelled by the Danish Handball Federation at the end of December after Denmark only finished eighth at the Women’s EHF EURO 2014. He has signed a three-year contract for the job as women’s coach. Sören Herskind, also a former Danish international, will be the team’s new assistant coach. He replaces Ulrik Kirkely. Bruun Jörgensen and Herskind have been working together before, as they were in charge of the men´s team of AG København until 2011. At present, Klavs Bruun Jörgensen coaches the men of Team Tvis Holstebro in the Danish league. "For me the job as national coach is a proud job, and I’m looking forward to working with the very best players and taking part in big international tournaments, where it will all be about taking some medals home for Denmark," he said at a press conference on Tuesday when the new duo was introduced to the public. "I know Sören Herskind really well. We trust each other and have great respect for each other’s skills and qualities," he named reason for appointing Herskind as his assistant. Stig Christensen: A perfect match Morten Stig Christensen, the Secretary General of the Danish Handball Federation, calls the new constellation a perfect match. "With Klavs Bruun Jörgensen and Sören Herskind, we get an extremely strong team, and I see the fact that they have accepted the task as a strong signal that our women´s national team is in great development, and that we are now taking a further step forward," he said. It is view that Danish commentator Jens Jacob Juulsager also shared. "It will be insanely good with Klavs Bruun," he said on Twitter.
