Wroclaw becomes a place for everyone to gather

With one year to go until the EHF EURO 2016, Wroclaw – one of the four host cities for the event where one preliminary round group, one main round group and the placement matches will be played – has revealed a designated composite championship logo.

"On behalf of the Wroclaw’s mayor, Rafał Dutkiewicz, I would like to thank for trust and the chance that was given to Wroclaw.

"Our city is one of four host cities, where the best players in Europe will play their matches at EHF EURO 2016, and we are very proud of this," said Jacek Sutryk, Director of Social Affairs Department of Wroclaw's city council.

"With intent we have chosen the motto ‘the meeting place’. In 2016 Wroclaw will be the European Capital of Culture and also one of the handball capitals in Europe," said Bogdan Sojkin, vice president of the Polish Handball Federation.

He emphasised that Wroclaw has great tradition in handball and many great coaches are connected with the city: Kazimierz Frąszczak, Andrzej Sokołowski, Jerzy Klempel and Daniel Waszkiewicz are just few who come from Wroclaw.

Furthermore WKS Śląsk Wrocław has been one of the most successful teams in Polish handball history.
