Andreas Palicka leaves Kiel for AalborgIt will be the current THW Kiel goalkeeper Andreas Palicka who will replace Norwegian international Ole Erevik by Danish VELUX EHF Champions League team Aalborg Haandbold from next season. After four years in Aalborg, 33-year-old Erevik has not wanted to extend his contract which expires after the current season. Instead, he will be joining a so far unknown foreign club. However, his successor will be quite competent too. 28-year-old Palicka has played for THW Kiel for the past seven year and had won the VELUX EHF Champions League twice with the North German club, in 2010 and 2012.
“I have chosen to continue my career in Aalborg Handball, because it is a club with an ambition to win titles and to be in the top of Danish handball.
“I know several Swedish players who have been in Aalborg Handball, and they have only had positive things to say about the club, so I am looking forward to getting started this summer,” Andreas Palicka said as he was presented at a press conference in his future club Sunday. “It is a scoop for Aalborg Handball to sign a top keeper like Palicka. Not only is he a keeper of a high class, he also comes with a lot of international experience from his many years in Kiel,” Aalborg director Jan Larsen said. “At the same time he has a strong winning mentality and a very professional approach to his job,” Jan Larsen added. Andreas Palicka, who has signed a three year contract with Aalborg, has played 314 matches for THW Kiel and 51 internationals for Sweden. He was not nominated for the Swedish squad for the current World Championship in Qatar, though. TEXT: Peter Bruun / br |
