Chema to remain in Veszprem until 2016

NEWS REPORT: The Spanish playmaker extended his contract with MKB-MVM Veszprém for an additional year and will remain in Hungary until 2016.


Chema to remain in Veszprem until 2016

José Maria "Chema” Rodriguez extended his contract with MKB-MVM Veszprem for an additional year, which will see them remain in Hungary until June 2016.

According to rumours the 35-year old Chema was thinking of moving back home to Spain but the management of the defending Hungarian champion convinced their world class playmaker to extend his contract with an additional year.

Chema arrived in Veszprem in 2012, since then he has won each and every Hungarian trophies there were (2 championships, 2 Hungarian Cups, 1 Supercup) and led his team to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in 2014. The Spanish middle back won the VELUX EHF Champions League two times and won a European Supercup in 2009. With the Spanish national team he won the World Championship in 2005.

Chema has played 99 games for the Hungarian outfit, his 100th will be this weekend’s game against Celje, against whom Veszprem can seal the top spot in Group C.
