EHF EURO 2016 presents itself to the world

NEWS REPORT: The Men’s EHF EURO 2016 granted visitors of the world’s largest tourism fair, ITB in Berlin, a glimpse of what can be expected at the final tournament next January

Poland presents itself to the world

The German capital Berlin this week became the next stop for the Men’s EHF EURO 2016 in the final tournament’s international promotion tour.

Berlin currently hosts the ITB, the world’s leading travel trade show, and the organisers of the upcoming championship used the opportunity to present the event to thousands of visitors.

Also present was former Polish international and double World Championship medallist Artur Siodmak who invited to everyone to come to Poland and experience the Men’s EHF EURO come January 2016.

“The European Championship is one of the world’s major sport events next year and it is the biggest in the 97-year-long history of Polish handball.

“We are fully aware of the event’s potential when it comes to the promotion of handball in Poland, but also when it comes to promoting the Polish cities and the entire country as a European heartland of handball,” said the organising committee’s chairman Marcin Herra.

“It is not by accident that we selected our western neighbours as the first stop on our journey.

“We are convinced that many fans from Germany will visit Poland during the European Championship. And together with these fantastic fans of handball we will make everyone who comes to Poland in January feel these real emotions that make handball such a unique sport.”

Germany will be a stop on the tournament’s promotion tour a few more times, for example at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 at the end of May and during an EHF EURO Trophy Tour which will take place in autumn this year.

While Poland as hosts are already qualified, 28 nations still fight for the remaining 15 places at the final tournament.

The next two rounds will take place at the end of April. The qualification will come to an end on the second weekend of June, and the final tournament draw will take place on 19 June at the ICE Congress Centre in Krakow.
