QUARTER-FINAL PREVIEW: Goalkeeper Sandra Toft accepts that her team are favourites against Thüringer HC

Larvik travel to Germany with respect

Thanks to Larvik’s unstoppable form in the Women’s EHF Champions League so far this season, they are obviously the fancied team to progress in their quarter-final tie against Thüringer HC, but goalkeeper Sandra Toft has issued a word of warning before facing the experienced German champions.

Having gone through the Women’s EHF Champions League as the only team not to have dropped a single point so far this season, Larvik appear to be clear favourites in the quarter-final clash against Thüringer HC at Wiedigsburghalle in Nordhausen on Saturday afternoon.

However, the German champions managed to reach 11 points in the main round group, and that is a considerable amount for a fourth placed team.

The team under tactically clever coach Herbert Müller even took points from teams ahead of them in Group 1, which calls for a certain respect from Larvik, but they are currently weakened by injury and admitted earlier this week that coming this far is already a massive achievement.

“Of course, we are favourites, but we have to be aware of Thüringer, who have a very experienced team with many good players and they have done really well in the competition thus far,” Larvik’s Danish goalkeeper Sandra Toft tells ehfCL.com.

“They are particularly good in their own hall, where they always get support from a lot of people, so for us, it is a question of getting a good result down there. However, a good result would still be a win. Of course, we aim to win every time we play,” adds the 25-year-old.

“Of course, it would be crazy not to accept our role as favourites and I do believe we can win over two matches. It would mean so much to us to get to the (MVM EHF) FINAL4. We are really looking forward to these quarter-finals,” concludes Toft.
