4 teams, 2 days, 1 partyOne day before the semi-finals began, fans were given an exclusive experience, including live bands, entertainment, a variety of food and drinks to choose from, autographs from their favourite players and an opportunity to shoot on the RoboKeeper, the fastest goalkeeper in the world. So, as always, the opening party on Friday was all about the fans! “We’re really enjoying this party! To share these experiences with other fans, it’s perfect!” was what the a group of THW Kiel fans agreed on. For the first time, fans were able to support their teams by singing, dancing or screaming the intro to ‘Seven Nation Army’ in front of a green screen. The final project will be shown before the third place match (see page 19). Despite the cloudy, windy weather, the organisers were fascinated by the atmosphere created by the fans themselves. The climax occurred when the teams and players were introduced to the stage. The crowd was jumping up and down, singing along to their clubs’ songs. Despite focusing on their matches over the next two days, the players took a break to sign a couple autographs. Barcelona and Veszprem supporters added, “It’s extremely special to get this close to the players and to celebrate with them.” There’s no age restriction when it comes to celebrating the sport of handball. Fans of all ages could prove their skills on the ‘VELUX RoboKeeper’ and the ‘JACK & JONES Speedgoal.’ After the opening party fans are now ready to show their love for the sport this weekend. One of the sport's previous stars, former Danish international Lars Christensen, shared the same opinion. “If you love handball, there’s nothing bigger than the VELUX EHF FINAL4!” Check more pictures from the opening party here TEXT: Taylor McIntyre, Jens Bois / ts |
