Sweden to face the only non-European team in quarter-finalsThe Men's Junior World Championship in Brazil turned out to be almost exclusively an European affair as Egypt became the only non-European team which made it to the quarter-finals.
After the Netherlands and Serbia failed to reach the Last 16 another three teams from Europe were deprived of medal hopes in the tournament's first knockout round as Norway, Portugal and Russia were ousted by France, Sweden and Spain respectively.
European players also dominate the tournament's list of top scorers as they currently occupy the top three positions as the Russian centre back Aleksander Shkurinskiy leads with 51 goals, nine goals ahead of Norwegian August Pedersen and ten ahead of Romanian Nicusor Negru.
