NEWS REPORT: Europe’s students take to the court in Braga with the support of young referees from the EHF


European Universities Championship throws off in Portugal

The 8th European Universities Handball Championship for men’s and women’s teams will be played in Braga, Portugal between 2 and 9 August 2015.

The event will be hosted by the University of Minho, which has already gained experience in the organisation of major student handball events, having hosted the 22nd World University Handball Championship in 2014.

Taking part in the men's and women's competitions will be teams from 13 universities and institutes of higher education from seven countries:

France - University of Strasbourg
France    University of the South Toulon-Var
Germany - University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden
Germany - University of Konstanz
Poland - University of Vincent Pol
Portugal - Polytechnic Institute of Leiria
Portugal - University of Aveiro
Portugal - University of Minho
Portugal - University of Porto
Romania - University of Pitesti
Spain - University of Cordoba
Spain - University of Malaga
Turkey - Marmara University

Parallel to the championships and as part of a cooperation agreement signed with the European Universities Sports Association (EUSA) in 2012, the EHF is supporting the event through the organisation of a clinic for young referees.

Young referee pairs nominated for the event include:
