Metalurg take first win

After their clear 30:24 defeat away to HC Motor Zaprorozhye on the first match day of the group phase, HC Metalurg got their first point in the VELUX EHF Champions League this season, as they defeated Kadetten Schaffhausen 28:24 in front of 3,500 spectators in the Boris Trajkovski on Saturday.

Metalurg secured revenge for their 30:24 away to Motor Zaporozhye in the first match, while Kadetten are under pressure after their second defeat in a row, as Metalurg won the meeting between the two teams by four goals Saturday evening.

The Macedonian club got a perfect start and moved ahead 5:1, and from that point the home team were constantly leading by two to five goals.

Kadetten tried to confuse their opponents by starting every defence session in a relatively defensive 6-0 formation and then move forward, as the Metalurg attack progressed.

This did not bother the hosts much though, while the way they changed between 6-0 and 3-2-1 in their own defence, caused the visitors considerable problems throughout almost all 60 minutes.

In the last five minutes the Kadetten coach, Markus Baur, tried an ultra offensive 3-3 formation in his team's defence, but that did not bring the Swiss champions any closer to the win.

For the second Champions League match did Janko Bozovic become most scoring player for Metalurg.

After scoring ten goals against Motor last weekend, the 30-year-old Austrian right back found the net eight times this evening in Skopje.

The Hungarian playmaker Gabor Csaszar scored seven times for Kadetten.
