Varazdin to miss Zobec in the next game

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Court of Handball has suspended the player of Varazdin for one game following his unsportsmanlike conduct in the EHF Cup.

Varazdin to miss Zobec in the next game

The EHF Court of Handball has rendered a decision in the disciplinary proceedings opened following the direct disqualification of Bruno-Vili Zobec from GRK Varazdin 1930 (CRO).

The player was directly disqualified at the 59:46 minute of the 2015/16 Men’s EHF Cup Qualification Round 1 (2nd leg) match: A.S.D
Romagna Handball (ITA) vs. GRK Varazdin 1930 (CRO) for having prevented a clear chance to score by pulling down the opponent’s arm from behind.

The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that in regard to his position, the player could not play the ball without committing a foul. Furthermore, as a direct consequence, a clear chance to score was annihilated during a crucial moment of the match. Such unsportsmanlike conduct deserves further sanctions.

The player is therefore not entitled to participate in the 2015/16 Men’s EHF Cup Qualification Round 2 (1st leg): RK Nexe vs. GRK Varazdin 1930 taking place on 10 October 2015.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.
