Grigel makes swift move to Rostov-DonDanish international Lotte Grigel has joined Russian Women´s EHF Champions League debutants Rostov-Don with immediate effect. The 24-year-old playmaker moves from last season’s Danish league runners-up Team Esbjerg, with whom she has been her entire career to date. Certain disagreements between the player and club have meant a move away has been on the cards for a while. “We are very happy that it has been possible to make an agreement, so that Lotte can get on with her handball career. “We have had our financial requirements met, so that we can release her to a foreign club with immediate effect,” said Team Esbjerg chairman Bjarne Pedersen in an official statement Monday. “I am happy that we have found a solution which enables me to move on with my career. “Now I am looking forward to new challenges with Rostov-Don, where the level of ambition is very high,” says Lotte Grigel, who had her first appearances in the league with Team Esbjerg at the age of 16.
Leslie: “She possesses qualities we need” Rostov-Don´s Danish head coach Jan Leslie is also a happy man this Monday. “Lotte possesses some of the qualities we need. She is fast and technically very skilled, so there will definitely be a role for her in our team. “It has been a long time since she has played at her best, but I am convinced that I can make her peak here in Rostov-Don.” Lotte Grigel´s contract with the Russian champions is valid until the summer of 2017. Despite being debutants in the Champions League, Rostov-Don are alone at the top of Group A with three wins out of three. TEXT: Peter Bruun / cor |
