Men's World Championships go to Egypt and Poland/Sweden

The International Handball Federation's Council has awarded the right to host the Men's World Championship to Egypt for 2021 and to the co-bidders of Poland and Sweden for 2023.

The IHF Council meeting was held on Friday in the Russian city of Sochi on the fringe of the IHF Congress.

For Egypt it is the second time the nation hosts the event after 1999. Sweden already hosted the World Championship on several occasions, the last time in 2011.

For Poland, that will also host the EHF EURO 2016, it will mark a premiere.

Following the World Championship 2019, which will be hosted by Germany and Denmark, this will be the second time that two nations stage the World Championship.

The Men's World Championship 2017 - the Qualification Europe has just started - will take place in France.
