European nations to meet in Bucharest

The attention of Europe’s top handball officials will shift to Bucharest, Romania on 13/14 November 2015, as the city hosts the 12th editions of the EHF Conference of Presidents and Extraordinary EHF Congress.

All of Europe’s 50 member federations as well its two associated federations (England and Scotland) will be present at the meetings, which are being organised at the Intercontinental Hotel, Bucharest, in close cooperation with the Romanian Handball Federation.

Parallel to the federation’s two meetings, the third edition of the EHF Scientific Conference will take place on 13/14 November under the title: ‘Medical Aspects in Handball: Preparation and the Game (Scientific and Practical Approaches)’.

The Scientific Conference will bring together scientific experts together to reflect on the medical aspects in the preparation and playing of both indoor and beach handball. More than 100 participants are expected at the conference.

Programme

The two-day programme includes the General Assembly of EHF Marketing GmbH and meeting of the EHF Executive Committee on Friday, 13 November. The Conference of Presidents and Extraordinary Congress will be held on Saturday, 14 November.

EHF Conference of Presidents

Held in alternate years to the EHF Ordinary Congress, the Conference of Presidents provides an opportunity of the exchange of information and opinions between member federations.

A full agenda includes a presentation on the new system to be played in Younger Age Category competitions from summer 2016; a look at handball’s current marketing position and also an update from the Polish EHF EURO 2016 Organising Committee ahead of the event in January 2016.

There will also be a follow-up to the proposals put forward at the 2014 Congress in Dublin on compensation for referees and delegates and a presentation of several possible models for the qualification process to the Men’s EHF EURO 2020 when the event will expand to 24 nations.

Draw Events

During the course of the EHF Conference of Presidents, draws will be made for the M20 EHF EURO 2016 (qualification) and also the Women’s U20 World Championship (Qualification Europe).

EHF Extraordinary Congress

Member federations will consider and vote upon five motions initially put forward at the 12th Ordinary EHF Congress held in September 2014 in Dublin, Ireland.

Following a review of the motions by the specially nominated Democratic Representation Task Force, member nations will now be asked to vote on proposed changes to the EHF Statutes.
