HBC Nantes awarded 2016 EHF Cup Finals

The EHF Cup Finals are to return to the French city of Nantes in May 2016 following a decision by the EHF Executive Committee


HBC Nantes awarded 2016 EHF Cup Finals

The EHF has announced that French club, HBC Nantes, is to host the 2016 edition of the Men’s EHF Cup Finals.

Bidding for the right to organise the event were both HBC Nantes and the German Bundesliga team, Frisch Auf Göppingen.

Following an evaluation of the two bids by the EHF together with EHF Marketing GmbH, the decision was reached by the EHF Executive Committee to award the event to HBC Nantes.

The French club successful staged the first EHF Cup Finals in 2013.

Its bid for this season’s final tournament will see the club host the event on 14/15 May 2016 in the ‘La Trocardière’ arena in the city.

HBC Nantes and Frisch Auf Göppingen will play together in the Group Phase of the competition following the Group Phase draw in Vienna on Thursday, 3 December 2015.

They will also meet OCI-Lions from the Netherlands and Team Tvis Holstebro from Denmark in Group B.
