Vardar junior take small step towards semi-final

On Monday, 25 hours after HC Vardar defeated Buducnost 26:24 in the Women’s EHF Champions League Main Round, it was HC Vardar junior’s turn to take the floor on the Sport Center Jane Sandanski.

In the first leg of the quarter-final of the Women’s Challenge Cup, the young Vardar junior team was up against HC Karpaty from Ukraine, and in front of 1500 spectators, the home team took a small step towards the semi-final through a 22:19 win.

After a narrow 13:12 lead at half-time, the home team managed to increase their lead a little in the second half and went on to take a three-goal win.

Despite the gap only being three goals, Karpaty obviously still have a good chance of snatching a semi-final ticket, as they have the home advantage for the second leg on Sunday.

Vardar junior’s 19-year-old right wing Natasha Nolevska was top scorer in the match with seven goals.

Right back Daria Kot scored five times for Karpaty.
