Fabregas receives one game ban

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: The EHF Court of Handball has suspended the Montpellier player for one match.

Fabregas receives one game ban

The EHF Court of Handball has ruled upon a disciplinary case open following the direct disqualification of Ludovic Fabregas from Montpellier HB at the 53:36 minute of the VELUX EHF Champions League Last 16 (2nd leg) match between SG Flensburg-Handewitt (GER) and Montpellier HB (FRA) on 27 March 2016.

The player was directly disqualified for pushing an opponent as an act of revenge.

The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that the foul was particularly reckless and intentionally committed against an opponent as an act of revenge to retaliate from the opponent’s behaviour. Additionally, the gesture was in no way related to the normal course of the match and directed at the opponent’s body.

Hence, Ludovic Fabregas is not entitled to take part in the next EHF club competition match in which his club will participate.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.
