Qualification Group 2 goes to San Sebastian

NEWS REPORT: The EHF and EHF Marketing have determined that the Women's EHF Champions League Qualification Group 2 will take place in Spain on 9 and 10 September.


Qualification Group 2 goes to San Sebastian

After Glassverket and RK Krim Mercator have been confirmed as the hosts of the Women's EHF Champions League Qualification Group 1 and 3 respectively, the European Handball Federation in cooperation with EHF Marketing have now decided also on the remaining venue.

The Qualification Group 2 will take place on Friday and Saturday 9/10 September in San Sebastian, Spain, after the local club Balonmano Bera Bera have been confirmed as the hosts of the tournament which besides the Spanish champions also includes HC Leipzig, Hypo Niederösterreich and HC Gomel.

In the tournament's semi-final the German side from Leipzig will take on Belarusian champions from Gomel, while Bera Bera will face the Austrian title holders and four-time EHF Champions League winners Hypo Niederösterreich. The matches will take place in Polideportivo Josean Gasca.

Only the winner of the tournament will obtain the ticket for the Group Matches and qualify for Group B, where HC Vardar, Astrakhanochka and FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria await.

The runners-up and the third team of this group will carry on in the EHF Cup Round 3, while the bottom ranked team will start already in the second round facing the winner of the Round 1 match between HB Dudelange and HC Dunarea Braila.

The exact playing times of the matches will be coordinated by the EHFM with all partners concerned and will be communicated in due time.
