NEWS REPORT: 14 men's and 15 women's teams have registered for the Beach Handball EURO 2017 and have already been allocated to their respective preliminary round groups


29 teams fight for Beach Handball EURO glory in Croatia

The teams entering the Beach Handball EURO 2017 will definitely play on sand, however their path to the top of the podium will be a rocky one.

29 teams have registered for the European beach handball highlight event of the summer and they have already been allocated to their groups. The Beach Handball EURO 2017 takes place from 20 to 25 June in Zagreb.

In the men's event, there will be two groups of seven teams each, while the women's event will start with three groups of five teams each.

In the men's event, the first four teams of each group will qualify for main round which will be played in two groups of four teams each. All main round participants have automatically reached the quarter-finals, but the main round determines the eventual pairings.

In the women's event, the first four teams of each group qualify for the main which will be played with two groups of six teams each. The first four teams of the two main round groups qualify for the quarter-finals.

Time for the young stars to shine

The groups have also been allocated for the U17 Beach Handball EURO which will take place just before the senior event, from 16 to 18 June.

In U17 men's event, the teams ranked first and second from each group and the two best third-ranked teams qualify for the semi-finals.

In the U17 women's event, the first four teams of each group qualify for the quarter-finals.
