With the Beach Handball EURO 2017 in focus, it will be a quiet weekend for the European Beach Tour 2017 – though one country will celebrate their first event of the season when Torreira – Café de Praia throws off on Friday.

The event in Torreira is the first to be held in Portugal this season, and will see all local teams fighting for the title in both the men’s and women’s competitions. There will also be a youth tournament for players aged between 12 and 16.

Zagreb and Piotrków Trybunalski stay on top

Following verification of points for 17 of the 67 tournaments so far, Detono Zagreb and BHT GRU JUKO Piotrków Trybunalski retained their position on top of the men’s and women’s rankings.

ebt Finals 2017 winners Detono Zagreb lead the men’s table with 790 points ahead of the men’s Piotrków Trybunalski side, who sit on 778 points alongside fellow Polish team BHT Auto Forum Petra Plock.

Croatian sides BHC Sesvete and BHC Cakovec round out the top five, with Sesvete on 740 points and Cakovec on 680.

In the women’s competition, Piotrków Trybunalski are on 808 points well ahead of second-placed Croatian side BHC Dubrava. WBHC Kontesa Nera currently rank third on 670 points, Detono Zagreb are fourth with 650 and BHT Pyrki Poznan are fifth with 542.
