Following successful events in 2015 and 2016, the European Open Day of Handball will take place once again this year as a part of the #BeActive European Week of Sport on 23-30 September 2017.

The European Commission’s #BeActive initiative aims to promote sport and physical activity in a time where engagement in sport and physical activity is at an all-time low. In 2016, the campaign reached 200 million Europeans.

The EHF ‘European Open Day of Handball’ relies on handball-related activities from the 50 EHF member federations on a national, regional and local level. The EHF wants to involve as many handball players, children, parents and teachers as possible in handball-related activities.

A number of federations have already expressed an interest in hosting events and more are expected to join the initiative in the build up to 23 September.
