15 goals from Kedziora leave Bocholt with good chances

With no less than 15 goals, left wing Damian Kedziora made his strong contribution to Achilles Bocholt having a good chance to reach Qualification Round 3 of the Men's EHF Cup.

30-year-old Kedziora scored his many goals in the high-scoring first leg against Finnish champions Cocks who came directly to Round 2 from the VELUX EHF Champions League qualifiers.

Achilles Bocholt won 40:35 in the Sportcomplex De Damburg in Bocholt, and the result leaves the Belgian side with good chances before the return match in Finland next Saturday.

The chances of reaching Round 3 are even better for RK Nexe. The Croatian side who were in the group phase two years ago could take a two goal lead with them home Estonia, where they defeated Pölva Serviti 27:25.

That result gives Nexe an obvious edge ahead of the second leg at home in Nasice Saturday evening.

OIF Arendal also seem to be heading for the next round after winning 28:25 in the Netherlands against OCI-LIONS.

The Norwegian visitors were leading by three or four goals during most of the match, and their head coach Marinko Kurtovic was very pleased after the win.

“They (LIONS) played exactly as we expected, so we could stick to our Plan A all the way through,” said Kurtovic after a match, in which two players scored 10 goals each.

Centre back Ivar Stavast hit the net 10 times for the home team, just like right wing Sondre Paulsen did for Arendal.

One team, who is already in Qualification Rund 3, is Pfadi Wintethur.

In the double-header at home in the Eulachalle, the Swiss team removed virtually all doubt in the first leg against Serbian Vojvodina.

After the 35:22 win for Winterthur Saturday, the second leg Sunday was a bit of a formality, which the host won 26:17.

The weekend was good for the Hungarian teams, and especially for Balatonfüredi SK who are already in the third qualification round.

In the double-header on home ground last weekend, they defeated Valur from Iceland 27:22 Saturday and even more clearly, 28:19 Sunday.

The other Hungarian team in this round, Csurgói KK who were in the group phase in the 2013/14 season, are close to following Balatonfüred to Round 3.

In the first leg at home, Csurgo won 33:24 at home against RK Dubrava from Croatia.

The Dubrava team who consist entirely of Croatian players will have tough job catching up with this deficit on home ground Saturday.

10 goals from right back Dmitri Kiselev was not enough for St. Petersburg HC to get a win with them from Iceland, where FH Hafnarfjordur defeated the Russian team 32:27.

With eight goals each, line player Agust Birgisson and right back Einar Rafn Eidsson made their strong contribution to the home win.

With five goals separating the two teams, the tie is obviously not decided before the return game in St. Petersburg next Sunday, though.
