Court of Appeal upholds the ruling of first instance

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: The decision of the Court of Handball has been upheld and the penalty throws will define the winner of the EHF Cup Qualification Round 2 match between St Petersburg and FH Hafnarfjordur.

Court of Appeal upholds the ruling of first instance

Following the decision of the Court of Handball dated 18 October 2017, the club FH Hafnarfjordur filed an appeal against the ruling of first instance.

After due consideration of all aspects of the case, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Court of Handball.

The penalty throws shall therefore take place to define the team qualifying and all costs and expenses shall be borne by the EHF.

Last week the Court of Appeal opened legal proceedings after the Icelandic club lodged an appeal against the decision of the Court of Handball. The first instance body granted the protest filed by St. Petersburg HC following the Men’s EHF Cup 2017/18 Qualification Round 2 (2nd leg) match between the two teams.

The CoH ruling cancelled the extra time result and decided that penalty throws should take place in order to define the winner and the team qualifying.
