Gonzalez to replace Serdarusic on PSG bench

NEWS REPORT: Paris Saint-Germain confirm VELUX EHF Champions League winning coach will move from Vardar next season

Gonzalez to replace Serdarusic on PSG bench

Raul Gonzalez has been confirmed as the man to replace Noka Serdarusic next summer as coach of Paris Saint-Germain Handball.

After three years coaching the Parisian side, the former THW Kiel coach will step aside, after leading his team to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 twice in the past two seasons.

In a peculiar twist, it is the coach who masterminded the victory over Paris in last season’s final who will replace him.

Raul Gonzalez led HC Vardar to their first VELUX EHF Champions League trophy in June with a 24:23 victory over PSG in the decider.

The 47-year-old Spaniard, who was Talant Dujshebaev’s assistant at BM Ciudad Real and Atletico Madrid before moving to Skopje in January 2014, has signed a three-year contract with the French champions.

“We're very happy to welcome Raul, the ideal person to take over from where Noka Serdarusic will have left the team.

“It means that our team will, once again, be coached by a world-class trainer. We already must thank Zvonimir Serdarusic and Staffan Olsson for their professionalism,” stated the club’s Chief Operating Officer Jean-Claude Blanc.
