Györ hand Krim another heavy defeatGyöri Audi ETO KC are still in close pursuit of CSM Bucuresti for first place in Group 1 of the Women's EHF Champions League Main Round, following another victory over RK Krim Mercator on Saturday.
GROUP 1 RK Krim Mercator (SLO) vs Györi Audi ETO KC (HUN) 21:32 (12:15) Krim's woes against Györ have been well documented, as the Slovenian side has never won against the current title holders in 14 games, including two heavy defeats last season, by a 17-goal margin. While Krim may have improved this season, they still did not mount a serious challenge against a depleted Györ, who enjoyed their sixth win of the season. Without the likes of Mork, Althaus or Amorim, the Hungarian side jumped to an early 7:3 lead, as their defence worked out impressively. However, Krim's attack still worked well, and the Slovenian side were only three goals behind at half time, 15:12. As Györ's coach Ambros Martin managed to rotate his players, the gap grew. It was the back line who scored at free will, with Zsuszanna Tomori topping the score chart with six goals. Ambros was thrilled with his teams performance: ˝It was a fantastic game, an amazing feeling. Every moment of the 60 minutes. This was the most complete game our team has played. It was not easy. In the first half when we played well in both attack and defense, they were always close behind. We played a complete game in all phases of the game. My team was just fantastic˝ Györ are now second in the group behind CSM, and the two powerhouses will clash in two weeks. TEXT: Adrian Costeiu/kc |
