Stars and legends congregate in Plzen for Jicha’s farewell match

No fewer than 40 international handball stars and legends will pay tribute to the recently retired Filip Jicha in a farewell match for the Czech stalwart and 2010 Player of the Year in Plzen, Czech Republic on Saturday 16 June at 17:30 hrs local time.

Fans present at the exhibition in Jicha’s hometown will be able to enjoy the clash between FC Barcelona Stars & Co. and THW Kiel Stars & Co.

Two-time EHF Champions League winner with THW Kiel and the EHF Cup winner with Lemgo is not the only big name retiring and fans will also see Domnik Klein, Daniel Narcisse and Petr Stochl in action, all of whom recently announced the end of their playing career.

All in all, both squads will be bolstered by a plethora of stars of handball’s past and present, with the likes of Kim Andersson, Thierry Omeyer, Vid Kavticnik, Stefan Lövgren, Peter Gentzel, Christian Schwarzer and Kiril Lazarov taking part.

Jicha, who will take the assistant coach role at THW Kiel from next season, will play one half of the match for Barcelona and one for Kiel.
The fans on-site will have an opportunity to admire Jicha’s collection of trophies and awards as well as encountering legendary players face-to-face during an autograph session.
