Outstanding Amorim helps Györ continue winning streak
Podravka Vegeta kept up a long time with title holders Györ in the Women’s EHF Champions League on Sunday. But the Croatian hosts ran out of steam in the second half. They equalised before Györ’s tempo became too much for them (33:27), with Eduarda Amorim and Stine Oftedal both scoring eight times.

HC Podravka Vegeta (CRO) vs Györi Audi ETO KC (HUN) 27:33 (15:17)
After winning their opening match at THC last week, the hosts looked set for another surprise as Ana Debelic scored twice to help Podravka build an early 3:1 lead.
But Györ reacted quickly, most notably through Bernadett Bodi, Eduarda Amorim and Jana Knedlikova. And although the Hungarian champions slightly carved out a lead, they also made many mistakes in their new up-tempo offence.
The rollercoaster continued in the second half, and Podravka could even level the score while Györ were trying to find the key of their defence.
Natalia Chigirinova led the home team in scoring with eight goals, and the backs tried successfully from distance as neither Amandine Leynaud nor Eva Kiss was able to stop them.
After Kari Grimsbø came on and Podravka became slower and slower, Györ were finally able to build a substantial lead again, thanks to Amorim who added eight goals to the seven she scored last week. Stine Oftedal also netted eight times for the visitors.
