Györ secure huge win with outstanding second halfThüringer HC’s toils with injuries were laid bare as they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season as Danyi Gábor’s Györ side played tough defence and attacked sharply.
GROUP C THC would need top scorer Iveta Luzumova to be on top form immediately, but it took her almost a quarter of the match to get going, while Györ went about their business. When Herbert Müller called the first timeout, his side were 11:7 down and not much changed by the end of the first period, the German side were still in the contest, but poor shooting was costing them dearly. The second half could not have begun better for the Hungarian side as they went on a 6.1 run, where defence and goalkeeper Kari Grimsbo dominated the match. With the result beyond doubt early in the second half, coach Danyi had the opportunity to rotate his squad and ease to victory. “If my team performs like today in any away game, I will always be pleased. “For me, the most important was to let some of the players rest, while others can play more. We have to develop our consistency both in defence and offence for 60 minutes. Although Kari Grimsbo just got back from her injuries, she was in inspired form,” said Danyi after the match.
