Defending champions reach quarter-finals at EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup

The EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup 2018 in Catania has reached the knockout phase, and the event's defending champions are firmly on their way for back-to-back titles.

2017 men's champions “Ekaterinodar” Krasnodar reached the quarter-finals with three from three wins in the preliminary round – and they are still to lose a set.

In the quarter-finals on Saturday, they will face HEI Skaering from Denmark. This match – like all other encounters – is streamed live on ehfTV.

In the women's event, 2017 winners C. BM Playa Algeciras have topped group A with the maximum number of six points. At 8:45 on Saturday they will face BHT GRU JUKO Piotrkow Trybunalski from Poland in the day's first quarter-final.

Competition in the women's is likely to be fierce, as besides Algeciras the three other group winners, Westsite Amsterdam, Multichem-Szentendrei N.K.E. and Sport Club Senec – Cannabis Energy Drink, have also won all their group matches.

Amsterdam face Aker Topphandball from Norway in their quarter-final at 8:45 hrs. Szentendre play again Strandgeflüster Minden from Germany (9:30 hrs); and Senec face GRD LECA - apostaganha.com (9:30 hrs).

In the men's quarter-finals, multiple ebt Finals champions Detono Zagreb face Göteborg Beach Handball Club (11:00). At 11:45, an all-German duel will take place between BC Sand Devils Minden and BHC Beach & Da Gang Münster. At the same time on court 2, two Hungarian teams fight for a spot in the semis: OFKSE-LINMAR and Dinamit BHC.

The semi-finals will be played on Saturday at 15:30 hrs for the women and at 16:15 hrs for the men.

Over the four days of the tournament, the EHF offers beach handball fans plenty of opportunities to follow the event.

All matches of Court 1 and Court 2 will be streamed live on ehfTV.

There will be TV coverage in Denmark and Norway on Viaplay, Germany on Sportdeutschland.de and Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia on Sport1.

This coverage will be supplemented by a number of highlight and best of-clips from the event which will also be available on YouTube as well as on the EHF Beach Handball Facebook page.

All matches can be followed with the dedicated beach handball ticker and the respective statistics are available for all men's and women's teams on the respective event pages.
