OFFICIAL STATEMENTS: The second instance body has decided on the cases of the Polish participants in the VELUX EHF Champions League.

Court of Appeal reduces penalties for Kielce and Plock

The Court of Appeal has reached decisions in proceedings brought by the Polish clubs of Orlen Wisla Plock and PGE Vive Kielce following sanctions imposed by the Court of Handball in first instance. The cases relate to the repeated non-affixing of the VELUX EHF Champions League’s premium sponsor’s logo on the left sleeve of the players’ sleeves.

The club Orlen Wisla Plock filed three appeals against first instance decisions whereby fines of €12,500 were imposed each time for the same type of violation.

The Court of Appeal decided to partially grant one of the appeals and to reject the two others. Hence, the first fine imposed on the club is reduced from €12,500 to €8,000. The two following fines amounting to €12,500 are maintained.

The club PGE Vive Kielce filed one appeal against the first fine received. As for Orlen Wisla Plock, the fine is reduced to €8,000 instead of €12,500.

Both clubs may recourse to arbitration (ECA) within 21 days.
