Porto take second clear win

GROUP C REVIEW: FC Porto Sofarma made it two wins from two matches in Group C of the EHF Cup Group Phase against HC Dobrogea Sud Constanta on Saturday afternoon

Porto take second clear win

After winning their opening match 37:26 against Liberbank Cuenca, FC Porto Sofarma clearly defeated HC Dobrogea Sud Constanta to take their second win of the EHF Cup Group Phase.

  • Porto are on top of the group with four points, while Constanta are still pointless
  • Porto led by as many as nine goals during the match

GROUP C

HC Dobrogea Sud Constanta (ROU) vs FC Porto Sofarma (POR) 29:35 (13:18)

The margin of victory was not as big as Porto's 11-goal opening win against Cuenca, but the Portuguese side claimed another clear victory against Constanta.

After taking an early 5:2 lead, Porto were dominating the game, increasing their lead to six goals, 14:8. Through three goals in a row, Constanta managed to reduce the distance to three goals, 15:12, but the visitors were still clearly ahead at half-time.

Constanta could not do much against a Porto team which added further power to their attacking play by using an extra attacking player, and the visitors had several nine-goal leads before the hosts managed to make the result look more respectable from their point of view.

The win sends Porto top of the group with four points after two matches, while Constanta are still without a point.

Post-match statements

Zvonko Sundovski, HC Dobrogea Sud Constanta coach: "We knew their quality. We didn’t start the game well. We tried almost everything to surprise them, in defence, but it didn’t work. They played very well one against one; it was difficult to stop them. Porto were better."

Magnus Andersson, FC Porto Sofarma coach: "We start really good in attack, also in defence, and we had some saves. We made some easy goals, man against man. In the second half, we controlled the game. We played very good seven against six. I am really satisfied with the result and how we played today."
