GROUP C PREVIEW: An away win against TTH Holstebro could take FC Porto Sofarma clearly ahead of their competitors in Group C of the Men’s EHF Cup

Porto hope to increase group lead

A win in Denmark against TTH Holstebro on Saturday evening would be FC Porto Sofarma’s third win out of three matches in the Men’s EHF Cup Group Phase – and would take the Portuguese side clearly ahead of the other teams in the group. The Danish home side will be trying to hang on to the top of the group and cause Porto’s first defeat.  

On Monday, HC Dobrogea Sud Constanta are chasing their first points when they host European debutants Liberbank Cuenca from Spain, who travel to Romania with a fresh win in round 2.

• Porto won their first two group matches clearly, while Holstebro have one win and one defeat

• Ports will be cautious of Holstebro left wing Magnus Bramming, who is top scorer in the competition with 29 goals so far

• “I am aware that Porto are probably the best team in our group, but we should still be able to win our home games,” says Holstebro coach Patrick Westerholm

• Porto are on top of the Portuguese league table, while Holstebro are currently third in the top Danish flight

• Cuenca earned their first win last weekend by defeating Holstebro 26:24 at home
