Derby matches galore in Women’s 17 EHF EURO 2019 draw

16 of Europe’s top youth national teams were fully focused on proceedings at Narodni Dom Celje on Thursday afternoon as the Women’s 17 EHF EURO draw took place.

For the third year in a row, Slovenia will host a younger age category tournament, with Celje as the host city for the tournament on 1-11 August 2019.

The draw was carried out by Peter Sichelschmidt, EHF Senior Manager National Team Competitions, with the help of EHF Executive Committee Member Bozidar Djurkovic. Secretary General of the Slovenian Handball Federation Goran Cvijic, Slovenia W17 national team coach Boris Cuk, Slovenian women’s national team coach Uroš Bregar and Slovenia W17 team captain Erin Novak.

Reigning champions Germany will take on a pair of neighbours Denmark and Netherlands as well as Portugal in Group C

Norway, silver medallists from two years ago, have a Scandinavian derby with Sweden to look forward to, as well as clashes with Spain and Croatia in Group A.

2017 bronze medallists Hungary have a feast of derbies to look forward to as they take on neighbours Romania, Slovakia and Austria in Group B, while hosts Slovenia elected to join France, Russia and Montenegro in Group D.
