DAZN Group and Infront secure TV rights agreement with Arena Sport for European handball events

DAZN Group and Infront have unveiled a new agreement with Arena Sport for the distribution of all European Handball Federation (EHF) club and national team competitions in the Balkan region.

The comprehensive agreement with Arena Sport includes the next two men's and women’s EHF EURO events (2022, 2024), which represent the pinnacle of international European handball, as well as the men's and women’s Beach Handball EURO events (2021, 2023) and corresponding qualification events.

Also included is coverage of four seasons of the EHF’s men's and women’s club competitions (2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24), including the prestigious EHF Champions League, the revamped European Handball League and the EHF Cup.

Arena Sport will secure the broadcast of the competitions across Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia.

Martin Hausleitner, EHF Secretary General, said: “This deal demonstrates the ambition of our partnership with DAZN Group and Infront to further drive engagement and awareness of handball across Europe. The Balkan region has a long handball history and for the EHF EURO and Beach Handball EURO events in 2022 and 2024, the broadcast agreement with Arena Sport will help us bring fans closer to the sport they love.”

David Szlezak, Managing Director, EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “Arena Sport has been our partner for the EHF Champions League in this region in the previous seasons and we can highlight the commitment that they have had with handball during this time. We are confident that the prolongation of our cooperation until 2024, adding the revamped European Handball League and EHF Cup competitions, will enable us to present the EHF club competitions in the best way in this important market.”

Nebojsa Zugic, General Manager of Arena Sport, said: “For 10 years, customers of Arena Sport television in the Balkans have enjoyed the best coverage of European handball, so naturally we are delighted that this will be the case for a further four years.

“I would like to thank the EHF, DAZN and Infront for their cooperation and look forward to enjoying a positive on-going relationship.”

DAZN Group and Infront signed a partnership with the European Handball Federation (EHF) and EHF Marketing GmbH (EHFM) in 2018. The partnership covers a 10-year agreement (2020-2030) for the commercialisation of EHF's and EHFM's media and marketing rights as part of a long-term strategy to secure significant growth for the sport across existing and new markets.
