A dominant final, a superb tournament, an impressive farewell for Mikkel Hansen: With eight wins from eight matches, Denmark underlined their dominant role in the men’s handball at the 2024 Olympic Games. Mikkel Hansen & Co. crowned themselves gold medallists for the second time after Rio 2016. The three-time back-to-back world champions took the biggest ever win in an Olympic final, outdistancing Germany with a 39:26 victory. Like in 1984 and 2004, when they lost the final against Yugoslavia and Croatia, respectively, Germany took the Olympic silver medal. TEXT: EHF / Björn Pazen |
