Slagelse break record
Slagelse count on a full house (2400 supporters) against Krim

With the 26-18 home win over KIF Vejen (KIF Kolding’s female team) on Wednesday evening Slagelse DT set a new remarkable record in the Danish league. The 2004 and 2005 Champions League winners won all their 21 domestic league matches this season so far – an achievement, that no other team in the country has ever accomplished before.

As many people consider the Danish the best women’s league in the world, this should give the Slagelse players a lot of confidence. Their next task will be the Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Krim Mercator Ljubljana. The match will be played in Slagelse on Sunday.

Trying to benefit from Krim’s weaknesses

The Danish league is one thing; a Champions League quarterfinal is something completely different. Slagelse’s assistant coach, Peter Bruun Jørgensen, has a lot of respect for the opponents that Slagelse defeated in the 2003/04 Champions League final.
Bodnieva (in yellow) will need special attention

“Krim have excellent goalkeepers and a strong defence. Their counter attacks are extremely dangerous. They have great wingers and a Ludmilla Bodnieva, of course. Their backcourt players, on the other hand, are not as frightening as they once were. I also think that Krim have a tendency to play faster than they are able to at times. These are the factors we will try to benefit from,” Peter Bruun Jørgensen told Eurohandball.com.

“We are not giving thinking about the necessary goal difference; we need to win at home in order to have a chance for the aggregate victory, we simply try to win both matches. This is the simplest strategy for the task,” Peter Bruun Jørgensen added.

Slagelse are not bothered by injuries or illness. The club expects the supporters to fill the Antvorskovhallen on Sunday afternoon – this would mean the support of 2400 fans.
