Slagelse Going for Victory
«Go back »Print Version

The Danish team visit Ljubjana with a seven-goal advantage, but they want to win instead of calculating.

Slagelse Going for Victory

Slagelse are not complacent about their seven-goal lead against Krim Ljubljana before the second leg in the Slovenian capital on Saturday evening. Coach Anja Andersen’s team won their home match 31-24, but it will not influence the team’s strategy in any way in the Hala Tivoli of Ljubljana. Slagelse are simply going for another victory…Though Slagelse want to win, Leganger may be decisive in defending the advantage

“Seven goals ought to be enough to qualify for the semi-finals, but we don’t really care about that; we want to win there as well,” pivot Mette Melgaard said.

Assistant coach Peter Bruun Jørgensen was on the same view: “We want to win each and every match we play and it will be the same this time. Of course our seven-goal lead is a good starting point,” Bruun Jørgensen said.

Many Slagelse supporters in Krim

Slagelse may expect great support in Hala Tivoli. The sponsors helped to finance a bus trip for the match for 52 volunteers helping the club. They will join the usual Slagelse supporters who travel to Ljubljana. The Danes count on 150 supporters from back home.

Slagelse ended the first phase of the Danish league with a 27-22 away win against CWC quarterfinalists GOG Svendborg TGI on Wednesday. The result means that Slagelse won all their 22 matches so far – an achievement that no other team has ever accomplished in Denmark before.
